Access 2010 - "Enter Parameter Value" problem

I have been using Access for many years but only the tables view (i.e. for quick filtering of large amounts of data). Normally, when I double click on a table in the left-hand list of tables, the table duly opens. But since yesterday, when I start up Access and go to open a table, I'm getting a small window headed "Enter Parameter Value". Only after I click OK does the table open. This happens just the once every time I start up Access. After that, all tables open up normally.

I've searched the Help and have also tried clearing all filters (Home/Filter/Advanced/Clear All Filters) - but the option is greyed out.

I remember hitting a wrong button yesterday (as one does when working too fast) but I didn't notice what it was at the time.

Any ideas how to stop this "Enter Parameter Value" screen from appearing?

Hi,

Maybe a long shot but just to be sure. Check the design of your table. When in design mode click the ribbon and the tab 'Design'. Now click the 'Properties' button. In the pane that shows up check to see if the filter has been saved with the table. You can check this by checking the option: Filter On Load - No (which is the default).

Thanks Maurice, but no, unfortunately, it's not that.  Looking further, I think I have somehow created some kind of link between two particular tables.  Here's the situation:

Imagine five tables: table_a, table_b . . . table_e.

The problem only happens with table_a. The other four tables open normally. When the "Enter Parameter Value" window appears (when I try to open table_a), it contains not just a box to enter a value, it also displays (above the box) the name of a completely different table - let's say table_d. In fact, what is written there is table_d:column_x.

So, each time I start Access, and try to open table_a, table_d wants some kind of parameter value which it wants to apply to column_x (in table_d).

Somehow, while flicking between tables, I must have linked these two tables together in some fashion.
